Hi, I’m Mary Kate—designer, mom of four, and lifelong atmosphere-maker. With beginnings in graphic design, editorial, and art direction, I’ve spent the past 15 years designing spaces across commercial, residential, and nonprofit settings. Truthfully, my heart’s always been in the living room—where soul and good lighting matter more than polish.

I started Bowie Studio from our 1962 cottage on Bowie Street, where my (artist of a) husband and I raise our kids, create, water the porch plants, and spend slow mornings with music playing through open windows. It’s where we welcome neighbors, host friends, and create the kind of beauty that doesn’t beg for attention, but gently invites you in.

I believe in hospitable design, hand-picked goods, personality over perfection, and spaces that speak to all five senses. My approach is rooted in warmth, lived-in charm, and a deep love for helping people uncover the beauty in their everyday environments.
